The GetGoodRank Algorithm

How does GetGoodRank estimate websites?

While creating the website estimation app, GetGoodRank algorithm, we carefully analyzed estimation metrics of website quality, freshness, relevance and usability used by Google.

GetGoodRank experts paid a lot of attention to:

  • Google algorithms, taking into account user experience and user factors;
  • Reasons for implementation of innovation and their goals;
  • Changes in qualitative search results of 2011-2015.

The official Google blog confirmed weighing user factors in website ranking. The most effective method of defining the quality of user factors is website estimation by users. GetGoodRank experts carefully analyzed the action of Google algorithm, official Google instructions for assessors, as well as official reports of Google experts. We have chosen the most meaningful factors for ranking and have defined their weight in search algorithms.

We have created our own site estimation system which uses principles from Google’s algorithm, MarksNet

MarksNet is a data analysis system designed to estimate websites on the basis of assessors marks. MarksNet uses ranking formulas which closely resemble the formulas of Google algorithm. It allows us to estimate accurately all parameters of a website.

The results definitely answer the question: Why is the website ranked lower?

Ranking formula considers users’ estimation (Google assessors) and factors which are officially considered in website ranking by Google.

Ranking formula

The main list parameters used by GetGoodRank for quality website estimation was taken from the official Google blog, Google instructions for web masters, and also from the Google Quality Rating Guidelines. The aim of global search algorithm is to compare and rank thousands of websites. As opposed to this, the main goal of GetGoodRank is qualitative website estimation and its comparison with competitors, defining its key advantages and disadvantages.

How Does GetGoodRank Estimate Websites?

We have worked out the exact list of parameters which have influence on the position of the website in search results. To estimate the key features of the website factually, we have also prepared a list of questions for assessors. GetGoodRank assessors estimate websites following definite instructions like those followed by Google assessors. We have worked out a detailed system of factors by researching the SERP changes after the integration of new filters and algorithms. GetGoodRank estimates:

  • Company / brand and website trust;
  • Content and pages arrangement;
  • Order and purchase functions;
  • Service quality and client support responsiveness;
  • Website navigation;
  • Design.

Every assessor estimates more than 150 parameters of a tested website. We guarantee fairness and credibility during website estimation. Each user answers 2 to 8 questions on every parameter. A specific scale is used for every feature. It minimizes subjectivity of perceptions and potential prejudice by users. Assessors answers are rendered by MarksNet system and are optimized for forming up experts’ recommendations on user factors, commercial potential and improvement of website usability.

MarksNet is an own project of GetGoodRank. It is a system which defines and specifies parameters vectors, and values their weight in search engine algorithms. MarksNet’s architecture uses the methodology of artificial neural networks for calculation of optimal exponents of estimation results.

Estimation of Competitors’ Websites

To maximize the efficiency of analysis, it is necessary to define the website status and understand how it differs from competitors’ websites. We carefully analyze search results and define main competitors’ websites which are ranked higher. Competing websites are rated by assessors on the same criteria. Results from the estimation of competitors’ websites obviously show why your website is ranked lower. You can also point your direct competitors to break away, not only in offline business, but also confidently advance them in search results.

How Does the Website’s Quality Get Numeral Value

Every assessors answer is given a numerical value. Estimation of user factors and commercial relevance is calculated using their weight index. Analyzing search results and official Google documents, GetGoodRank experts defined every parameter’s weight, applying special indexes to all of them. Every parameter is taken into account in the GetGoodRank formula. So far, every factor affects the position given to the website by Google.

GetGoodRank calculates the value of every category using the following the formula:

GetGoodRank calculates

Where G is category value, n is the parameter number in this category, pn is the parameter value, kn is the weight index of a given parameter inside the category.

How Analysis Results are Presented:

GetGoodRank analysis results are presented in diagrams and graphs with users and experts’ comments and recommendations on every parameter improvement. Competitors’ diagrams show how your website differs from the Top ones.

Step by Step Recommendations

As opposed to many services, GetGoodRank does not estimate abstract usability, but converts such values as trust, simplicity and convenience of use and service quality into numerical value. It allows you to clearly see what you do wrong. GetGoodRank does not just render user opinions about your website. MarksNet system notices the smallest hesitation in values. It is taken into account when step by step instructions on improving of user and commercial factors are given

Step by step recommendations

The recommendations are simple, they are perfectly converted into step by step scope of work for webmasters, and their execution does not result in global website changes, investments and wasted time.
